MAGIC CITY CLASSIC TRAFFIC PROCEDURES

Avoid the endless traffic and take advantage of the Magic City Classic “Park-N-Ride” shuttle system! Fans will be able to ride designated Magic City Classic charter buses roundtrip from downtown to Legion Field Stadium between 12:00 noon and 10:00 p.m. on October 27th for $5.00 per person.

The buses can be boarded at the Sheraton Hotel, Doubletree Hotel, Hotel Highland and the six specified parking decks listed below. Don’t fight the traffic, get on the bus!

  1. Parking Deck #7 (5th Avenue North & 17th Street)
  2. Parking Deck #5 (5th Avenue North & 20th Street)
  3. Parking Deck #4 (4th Avenue North & 21st Street)
  4. Parking Deck #3 (4th Avenue North & 20th Street)
  5. Parking Deck #2* (8th Avenue North & corner of short 20th Street)
  6. Parking Deck #8 (3rd Avenue South & 20th Street)
  7. Sheraton Hotel (9th Avenue & corner of Richard Arrington, Jr. Blvd.)
  8. Doubletree Hotel (corner of 8th Avenue South (University Blvd.) & 20th Street)
  9. Hotel Highland - formerly Pickwick (corner of 10th Avenue South & 20th Street)

*Please note: Parking Deck #2 will have delayed boarding due to traffic following the parade. This location will not have initial pick up at 12:00 noon. Pick up at this location will begin immediately after parade traffic has dispersed.

Upon completion of the Magic City Classic Parade and/or once Legion Field parking lots are full, whichever occurs first, the Birmingham Police Department will strictly enforce a perimeter surrounding Legion Field. Once this perimeter is in place, vehicles will not be allowed to travel toward Legion Field, and fans will be directed to the off-site Magic City Classic Park-N-Ride Shuttle locations listed above. MAGIC CITY CLASSIC PARKING RATES AND RULES

Parking at Legion Field is limited and is available on a first-come, first-serve basis only. There will be two parking lots opening at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 24 for tailgating patrons.

  • From 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon, enter in Lot Q on 8th Avenue West.
  • From 12:00 noon until game day, enter Lot M on 8th Avenue West*.

* Note: This gate will remain open 24 hours a day until game day.

  • Pre-Game Premium parking rates for the entire weekend are $140 per recreational space. (20x40 space)
  • Game Day Premium parking rates are $20 per car (9x18 space) and $60 per recreational space.
  • Public parking on game day is $8 per car.

Those who are visiting tailgaters must use Lot J, which is located off of Graymont Avenue. The price for parking in this lot is $2 per vehicle. Lot J will open on Thursday, October 25 at 5:00 p.m. and will remain open nightly until 12:00 midnight.  Lot J will close as an alternative lot at 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 27. Any vehicle left after the times listed will be towed at the owner's expense.

MAGIC CITY CLASSIC AMBASSADOR ANNOUNCED!

The 66th Annual Food World Magic City Classic presented by Pepsi will feature the comedian/actor SINBAD as its Ambassador for 2007!

Sinbad, born David Adkins, is a comedian turned actor who has made appearances on shows such as “Star Search,” “The New Red Foxx Show,” and “A Different World.” From there, he began his film career with a debut performance in “That’s Adequate” and went on to land minor roles in “Coneheads” (1993) and “Meteor Man” (1993) which eventually lead to starring roles in “Houseguest” (1995) and “Jingle All The Way” (1996).

His liveliness and reputation for clean, respectable entertainment have gained him much success over the years and has allowed him to create an outlet for that good-hearted party nature through his “Soul Music Festival” which takes place annually around the globe.

Sinbad will be the Grand Marshal of the McDonald’s Magic City Classic Parade beginning at 9:00 a.m. in downtown Birmingham on Saturday, October 27th.  He will serve as the ambassador of the 66th Annual Food World Magic City Classic presented by Pepsi and will be honored by Alabama A&M University, Alabama State University and City of Birmingham officials during the State Farm Halftime Show.

Discounted general admission tickets for the 66th Annual Food World Magic City Classic presented by Pepsi are now available Food World, Bruno’s, and Food Max store locations for $16 each.

Reserved tickets can be purchased in advance for $20 through Ticketmaster online or at 1-800-277-1700, and are also available at the Box Offices of Alabama A&M, Alabama State, and Legion Field.
